The Buzuki timeline: one song from 1969, one from 2003, and empty slots for the next song

How it works

  1. Pick a music pack

All-time hits, rock, movie soundtracks, Christmas songs or Hungarian classics. Release years run from 1936 to today.

  2. A song plays

Through Spotify Premium or Apple Music. No subscription? The game shows a QR code with the title and artist, so you can play it from any app.

  3. Everyone guesses

Place the song where you think it fits on your own timeline. Get it right and the card stays with you. First player to the target score wins.

One phone, or everyone on their own

Multiplayer results: podium, scores and guess times
Multiplayer

Everyone on their own phone

One person opens a room and the others join with the game code. You all guess the same song, and by the end you'll know who really remembers the nineties. Joining is free. Only the host pays.

One-phone game: whose turn it is and the current standings
One phone

One phone is enough

Not everyone wants to download an app. Pass the phone around instead: each player takes a turn and the game keeps score. This mode is free.

Solo game: song cards on the timeline
Solo

Play solo

Just you and the songs. Warm up before the next party, or see how many points you can rack up. Also free.

Music packs

There are five packs right now. Players vote in the app on what comes next.

  • Hungarian

Hungarian hits across the decades, from Omega to 30Y.

  • All Time Hits

International hits you've almost certainly sung along to.

  • Rock

    Guitar classics from several decades.

  • Movie soundtracks

You know the tune. Which film is it from?

  • Christmas

For December. Or November, if that's when it starts at your place.

After every game you can rate the songs, which tells us what to keep.

Weekly challenge

New challenges go live every week and you get one try at each. The leaderboard shows where you stand against everyone else.

Category winners get premium access and avatar items you can't get any other way. No looking it up, though: leave the app mid-song and that answer counts as wrong.

FAQ

Is Buzuki free?

The download is free. Solo play, pass-the-phone play and joining someone else's room are all free. You only pay to host a multiplayer room, with a 3-day pass, a weekly or a monthly subscription. Your friends still play for free.

Do I need Spotify?

No. Songs can play through Spotify Premium or Apple Music. If you have neither, pick the "On my own" option: the game shows the title and artist in a QR code and you play the song from wherever you like. A free Spotify account won't work for playback.

How do I join a friend's room?

Ask them for the game code. In the app, tap "Enter a room" and type in the code. Joining is free.

Which phones does it run on?

iPhone and Android. Get it from the App Store or Google Play.

Where do I redeem a promo code?

At buzuki.hu/promo. Sign in with the same account you use in the app and your access will show up there too.

You could be playing tonight

Free download for iPhone and Android. One phone is enough to start.
